*New “Match Made in Michigan” initiative runs from January 28 through February 24
METRO DETROIT, MI -- In the true generous spirit for which Metro Detroiters are known, Better Made Snack Foods, ACO Home, Garden, & Hardware, Gleaners Community Food Bank, and WOMC Radio are teaming up for “Match Made in Michigan”, an initiative to raise much needed food and money to help those less fortunate, and also raise the public’s awareness of the need for continuing help, especially during these cold winter months.
From January 28 through February 24 ACO will feature Better Made products with a portion of the sales going to support Gleaners Community Food Bank. On Wednesday, February 13th from 6 am to 8 pm WOMC will partner with Gleaners for a daylong Radiothon to benefit Gleaners and the myriad of hungry families throughout Metro Detroit.
“Better Made has a long history of helping needy organizations like Gleaners in Metro Detroit and we are very happy to be involved with this program,” says Mark Winkelman, President of Better Made. “Gleaners runs an excellent program and the Radiothon will help many people in need.”
For more than 33 years. Gleaners Community Food Bank has been “nourishing communities by feeding hungry people.” Last year, Gleaners distributed 40 million pounds of emergency food to over 552 partner soup kitchens, shelters, and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties. Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 95 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
Farmington Hills-based ACO Hardware opened its first store in Dearborn, MI in 1946 and is the State’s largest independent hardware retailer with over 65 locations and more than 1,000 ACO associates that make Michigan their home. Each year ACO purchases more than $10 million in products from over 45 Michigan based companies. The company’s purchasing power directs revenue back into the Michigan economy.
In addition, ACO supports Michigan Charities such as; Michigan Wounded Warriors, Detroit Children’s Hospital through the Festival of Trees, Beaumont Hospital, Mitten’s for Detroit, Muscular Dystrophy, Blight Busters, Habitat for Humanity and several more.
